How Thermage Works
The three layers of the skin: epidermis(outer), dermis(collagen-rich layer), subcutaneous layer(fat layer with web of collagen fibers)--Thermage will tighten and renew the collagen in all three layers. It uses a Capacitive Radio Frequency (CRF)technology which safely heats the skin's under layer and inner layer causing an immediate tightening as well as improves tone and texture.
Downtime
No downtime after treatment. Patient will feel sleepy if given light pain medication prior to treatment. Normal activities can be resumed.
The Experience
The procedure can take 20-minutes or more depending on area treated. During treatment you'll feel a brief heat sensation with each energy pulse, then a cold sensation by the ThermaCoolTM system (this protects the outer layer of skin). It is uncomfortable.
Possible Side Effects
There may be some temporary numbness, tenderness or mild swelling. Skin may appear slightly pink for a day or two.
The Success
Most patients only need one treatment. If the skin is too lax the results will not be as dramatic. Patients ages 35-60 have the most predictable results. Could take up to six months to see change. Some patients not see a change. Results vary.
Note: If you decide to treat your body or cellulite with the Thermage. Be sure to ask the clinic: How old is there device?-- The newer Thermage equipment has proven to give better results than older models. The newer tips used are bigger therefore more effective. Who's doing the treatment and their experience? How many pulses will be used? Some clinics try to cheat on the number of pulses given to patients.
