BEWARE: Anyone choosing any laser treatment should make sure the physician treating them knows what they are doing. There are many GP's who do not have laser surgical experience or are "just at the location" when the patient is being treated by a laser tech. Be safe.

How Fraxel Laser Works
The Fraxel Laser is specially designed to alter only fractional volumes of the target area. It creates tiny microscopic wounds and a response in the coagulation of your own collagen fibers. It offers a speeding healing process.
Downtime
Expect 2-3days swelling--mostly under the eyes if the whole face is treated, 5-7 days of a bronze-pink skin color--looks like you were out in the sun. Make-up can be worn the next day.
The Experience
A numbing topical is placed on treated area. Often pain meds are are given to help you relax. Feels like a sharp prickly /scratchy continuous heat across treated area.
Risks
Blistering can occur if skin isn't cooled properly. Discoloration is possible, sun sensitivity, acne breakouts, white little bumps. Expectations may not be met. This is not a tightening device.
The Success
Treatments are 1-2 weeks apart for most patients. Patients with melasma are about once month. Expect 4-6 treatments for the average person. Scarring can require more treatments 6-12 treatments depending on the condition. The Fraxel Laser Treatment isn't a cure for melasma. Melasma may return, just by going into the sun.
Scars and wrinkles may soften but not disappear. Lip line can prove themselves difficult. Over a period of 3-6 months you will see a clinical improvement in sun damaged skin. Often Fraxel is combined with other treatments,such as; Botox Cosmetics or dermal fillers.
Raidesse fillers may breakdown during treatment.
Costs for the SR1500 / Fraxel Re:store(older model): Expect to pay (in Victoria,BC) about $1200 per treatment for full face and you need at least four to five treatments. To treat scarring is on average 10-12 treatments.
In Vancouver, BC and in US the treatments are approx. $500 per treatment.
Fraxel RE:pair is usually one treatment the average cost is around $2500-$3500
